SCF is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for its 2026 Community Grants. Qualified organizations meeting the granting criteria are invited to submit their stage one application by March 31, 2026.
“SCF’s Community Granting process consists of two stages. This approach was designed to make it easier for organizations to share their project/program ideas before submitting a full proposal,” says Shelley Lachapelle, executive director of SCF, adding, “the stage one application is available in the 'Granting' section of the website along with other valuable resources for organizations to review.”
Community Grants support a wide range of strategic priorities, including heritage, arts and culture, educational programs, social and health programs, activities that contribute to the development of healthy communities, and the stewardship of land, natural resources, and the environment.

The Sudbury Community Foundation’s (SCF) inaugural Heart of the Crater FRIENDraiser was buzzing with energy as approximately 100 guests gathered on November 13, 2025, for an afternoon of inspiration, conversation and connection.
“We are thrilled to see such a positive response to this initiative,” said Kyle McCall, President of the Community Foundation, adding, “At our core, it is why the SCF exists. Our mission is to be a catalyst for strengthening our community by creating meaningful connections, and the Heart of the Crater Friendraiser helped do just that.”
Fourteen community charities that have been recipients of Community Grants or Social Investment Partnership Sudbury (SIPS) funding participated in the Friendraiser, sharing stories of impact and program outcomes with guests, which included elected officials, fund holders, volunteers, and representatives from various business sectors.
SCF is also pleased to confirm that over $10,000 was raised for the Sudbury Cares Fund through the generosity of our donors, including an anonymous donor who matched donations up to $5,000.
When you choose to give through SCF, you are not only supporting important causes, but you are also joining a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to making a difference!

"I set up the Compassionate Community Fund to provide support to the 'Earth Angels' who give so much of themselves with very little expectation of recognition or reward.
They are the true heroes in our community."
